November 2020

ARIES (March 21 – April 19)

This month you have Mars in Aries and only with one event, an opposition to Venus.  It will only happen in the last ten days of November.  Therefore, this month meditate and contemplate more on the meaning of the Dharma and the significance of your life.   You have good energy (Mars) and the aspect of Venus can stimulate an expressive love for all.  A good question to ask is, “What legacy am I leaving behind me?”  This helps organize your intentions for the future.  Do not chase after desires, which could happen, rather be satisfied with your life and express generosity and affection.  That is a good legacy to leave behind for others.

Aries Buddhists are motivators.  This month Guru Yoga meditations would be beneficial.  Our Gurus are sources of inspiration both from their teachings and from their lifestyle.

TAURUS (April 20 May 20)
The month of November has three events.  Uranus opposite the Sun, then Mercury and finally Venus.  Are you feeling split between the current situation and projections about better scenarios?  The Sun, Mercury and Venus run opposite to your sun sign.   Those are two energetic planets stressing you and pulling you in many directions.  I would suggest you go slowly and be mindful.  Those three planets put a lot of pressure on you.  It is only an influence but if you have some delusions of better situations elsewhere you may be fooling yourself.

Taurus Buddhists are practical.  This month make sure your desires are in check.  You tend to fantasize and do all the wrong things to attain happiness.  Remember Shantideva the great Buddhist saint’s words of wisdom.  “Sentient beings are strange, although wishing happiness they avoid its causes.  Although wishing to avoid suffering they constantly create those causes.”

GEMINI (May 21 – June 20)

This month you have no planets directly in your sign, but you do have an aspect with the Sun coming into opposition to Gemini.  This will happen in the last ten days of November.  That planet can be useful for Buddhists.   The Sun could support your desire to do better practice.  Be careful with this aspect, it can also cause you to be agitated and think success lies far away from your current situation.  Slow down at that time and double check your intentions.  Do not think your practice needs to wait for the weekend.  Every moment is the time to practice the Dharma.

Gemini Buddhists are quick on their intellectual feet. This month act with a loving heart and faith in the Three Precious Jewels of Refuge. Do not jump around too much, be peacefully and thoughtful.

CANCER (June 21 – July 22)

This month five planets agitate you from other signs.  Mercury and Venus are square, and Jupiter, Saturn and Pluto are opposite.  That means you have strong feelings that stimulate you.  I would suggest you pursue peaceful projects that involve others in virtuous activities.  Be supportive of positive group action, but just as a member of the group, not the leader.  You often work with your emotions and this month you can give good emotional support to others.  Just be mindful of your expectations, do not have any.  Just be a nice person.

Cancer Buddhists normally work with feelings. This month the feelings are motivational but complicated.  Mix whatever feelings arise with Bodhicitta, the wish for others to have happiness and the causes of happiness.

LEO (July 23 – August 22)

This month no planets are in your sign.  You do have the Venus and Mercury briefly well aspected to your sign.  The Sun will be running square and so be careful of personal confusion.  Your sign is active and with two planets supportive of good will and one square, aggression or frustration could arise.  Be mindful in your motive and you can easily control this influence.  If you have a situation where activity is necessary, these aspects could be useful, but one still must be mindful of inappropriate expectations.

Leo Buddhists like to be motivators. This month just stay home and meditate.  Be organized about your thoughts and meditate on karma, the suffering nature of deluded reality and interdependence.  These meditations will be fruitful for your spiritual progress.

VIRGO (August 23 – September 22)

This month no planets are in Virgo.  What you do have is Jupiter, Uranus, Saturn, and Pluto well aspected to your Sun Sign.  What that means is a lot of energy, just be careful of short periods of confusion or dissatisfaction.  The short periods of these feelings are because Mercury and Venus will run square to those planets and your sign.  Therefore, be the eye of calm in the middle of the busy activities.  If you have a big project to accomplish these aspects could be useful but during the month be careful of rushing things.  Mindfulness is your best asset to help you be successful.

Virgo Buddhists do things in an orderly manner. This month you are busy and possibly rushing to get things done.  Slow down and organize yourself before you step out the door to start the day.

LIBRA (September 23 – October 22)

This month things are quiet as Venus is in your sign making you affectionate.  The feelings might be strong when Venus runs opposite Mars.  This will happen in the first ten days only.  Thus use that influence to be dynamically affectionate, but not indulgent.  Remember as a Buddhist we are reflective and contemplative and these qualities are excellent to bring out Venus’s positive influence.  Come the last two weeks of November things are calm, and so you can just be a friendly, helpful bodhisattva.  That is our goal in your Buddhist practice.  Irrespective of astrological influences, the two factors of mindfulness and positive motivation will make your life meaningful and fulfilled.

Libra Buddhists keep life in balance. This month it is sunny weather figuratively speaking so enjoy the blessings and utilize the good weather to expand your positive feelings.  Life experiences are only a problem if you make them a problem.

SCORPIO (October 23 – November 21)

This is your birthday month, and the Sun and Mercury are in Scorpio. Considering it is your birthday month, make an offering to your parents and your teachers.  Parents are called the ‘Field of Benefit”.  That is because they benefited you with a body and a life.  Send a card to your parents to thank them for this rebirth. Even if they have died, you can dedicate a meditation or two in deep appreciation of their support.

Your Gurus are the “Field of Quality” and they give you the Dharma.  Give an offering to them to create a positive karmic connection.  Therefore, this month go slowly as you have ample energy to draw on. Going slowly ensures actions and thoughts are done skillfully.

Scorpio Buddhists are passionate. This month you are energetically passionate so manifest it skillfully. Give happiness to others, that is the passion of Bodhicitta and that also brings you much greater personal satisfaction.

SAGITTARIUS (November 22 – December 21)

This is your birthday month.  Do not forget to send a card to your parents to thank them for this rebirth. Even if they have died you can dedicate a meditation or two in deep appreciation of their support.

The Sun will be transiting through Sagittarius and that gives you energy.  Utilize this influence in your daily meditations and activities.  Even if you simply sit down and meditate for a moment, you will initiate the blessing from this planet.  It is the inspiration to be positive and act on those intentions.  You have power, use it well.

Sagittarius Buddhists are inspired individuals. This month slow down and meditate before you act.  Remember a compassionate heart is a great source of motivation.

CAPRICORN (December 22 – January 19)

This month there are some distractions with Jupiter, Saturn, and Pluto being stimulated by brief squares from Mercury and Venus. This will happen in the first week of November and then in the last ten days of the month.  Be mindful of agitated feelings and you will avoid acting out your frustrations. Virtuous mindfulness stops even bad astrological aspects. Be confident in your own clarity and positive feelings.  We practice the Dharma to gain control of our lives and our actions.  Take Refuge sincerely each morning and carry that motivation throughout the day.  All will be successful that way.

Capricorn Buddhists reflect and contemplate on decisions. This month go slowly and do good works.  Basically, your faith is a mainstay for your practice and so use it well.

AQUARIUS (January 20 – February 18)

This month no planets are in your sign.  You do have the Venus and Mercury briefly well aspected to your sign.  The Sun will be running square and so be careful of personal confusion.  Your sign is active and with two planets supportive of good will and one square, aggression or frustration could arise.  Be mindful in your motive and you can easily control this influence.  If you have a situation where activity is necessary, these aspects could be useful, but one still must be mindful of inappropriate expectations.  You are a social individual, be skillful in your interactions.

Aquarius Buddhists are sociable beings. This month put more emphasis on meditation and peacefulness.  It will help you manage your social activities.

PISCES (February 19 – March 20)

This month you should slow down and watch the melodrama of life unfold.  Samsara is the creation of deluded minds.  If your mind is clear and wise, then you have the causes for liberation and nirvana.  There is one planet, Neptune in Aquarius that supports your Dharma activity.  That means you are sensitive to the confusion around you.  Therefore, sit back, be quiet and contemplative and gain insights into the suffering nature of samsara.  It will effecting you mostly in the last two weeks of November.  The reason is a square with the nodes of the Moon.  That can mean some past karma is surfacing, use your wisdom of the Dharma to deal with whatever happens.

Pisces Buddhists are sensitive and introspective. This month forget about being quiet and sensitive.  Granted you need to be appreciative of others’ feelings but it is an excellent opportunity to exhibit confidence and good will.  Do the things you often postpone.
