July 2017

ARIES (March 21 – April 19)

Well it is a good month to stop most of what you strive for and relax.  An aggressive attitude could cause problems.  Uranus in Aries is square the Sun and Mercury.  This is a good set of aspects for the Perfection of Patience.  It is not a good time to be focused on personal goals.  The reason is your mind has the possibility of being confused by the Mercury square.

Aries Buddhists love to be motivators.  This month motivate to be quiet and peaceful.  Be the true definition of a Buddhist, an inner person, and this means to focus on inner qualities and not on outer goals.

TAURUS (April 20 May 20)
If Aries was told to slow down you can rely on the suggestion to move forward.  Taurus is well aspected with the Sun, Mars, Venus and Mercury for the first part of the month.  The Sun, Mars and Mercury sit in water signs that support the basic element of Taurus, earth.  Be mindful that your emotional life is supportive of your goals.

Taurus Buddhists love to be grounded and practical.  Use a strong emotion based goal like Bodhicitta or Metta meditation for this month.  Those meditations support the power of the planets aspected to your Sun sign.

GEMINI (May 21 – June 20)
You have an interesting mix of support and agitation.  You will have Venus in your sign for the last weeks of the month.  This stimulates an attitude of affection and bravado.  What can complicate this is Saturn in opposition to Venus.  This makes you contemplative and can help you delve into what lurks in the back recesses of your mind.  Be mindful and go slowly with important decisions.   This aspect will apply for the last ten days of the month.  Saturn is a good planet for Buddhist, it makes us think about things.

Gemini Buddhists are quick on their intellectual feet.  Your big month was June with your birthday and all sorts of planets giving you energy.  This month reflect on the impermanent nature of life.  The party is over and you have to take the ups with the downs.  As Lord Buddha said, “All that rises will fall.”

CANCER (June 21 – July 22)
Happy birthday.  Well, you have a wonderful time ahead of you.  The Sun, Mars and Mercury will be together in Cancer for most of the month.  The only problem is Uranus will square Mercury in the first days of the month and then square the Sun in the last days of the month.  Be careful of agitation at these times.  First intellectual and then personal agitation.  Mindful awareness can solve much of this if you exercise it regularly.

Cancer Buddhists normally work with feelings.  This month your intelligence is strong, so infuse it with Bodhicitta.  The wish to benefit others has so many benefits to both others and yourself.  Meditate constantly on Bodhicitta and even your sleep will become a source of enlightenment.

LEO (July 23 – August 22)
Happy birthday.  The party will not start until the last ten days of the month from the point of view of astrology but that does not mean you cannot enjoy yourself.  Mercury will be giving you great ideas all month long and so enjoy some intellectual stimulation and read some good Dharma books.  You will have a new Moon day on July 23rd, that is a good day to do meditations on love and compassion for all sentient beings.

Leo Buddhists like to be motivators.  Know you could convince anyone to look at spiritual practice.  Your strong point is your vision.  Therefore be mindful of the amount of energy that comes out of you.  Monitor it like a water hose, not too much water nor too little, just the right amount to moisten the minds of others.

VIRGO (August 23 – September 22)

It is a good month to be reflective and thoughtful.  Saturn is benefited a great deal by the Buddhist attitude of thoughtful meditation.  It removes one of the problems Saturn suffers from, insecurity.  The last two weeks of July are good for reflecting on what is the cause of real happiness.  The reason is both Saturn and Venus will be square to Virgo.  The square with Venus is excellent if you think about the significance of meaningful happiness.

Virgo Buddhists do things in an orderly manner.  Move on activities that require clear minded energy.  Any meditations involving decisiveness and intelligence are good this month.

LIBRA (September 23 – October 22)
Well it is a good month to slow down and relax.  An aggressive attitude could cause problems.  The Sun, Mars and Mercury are square to Jupiter in your sign.  This is a good set of aspects for the Perfection of Patience.  Luckily this will last only for a few weeks as all the planets will move forward quickly.  The last ten days will be pleasant as Jupiter will have a good aspect with Venus.  It is a good time to be with friends.

Libra Buddhists keep life in balance.  The intellect and the emotions often have conflicts when decisions are being made.  The reason is the intellect likes logic and the emotions decide because it feels right.  This balancing act is a hard one for anyone, therefore as the wise sages of the past have said, “Go Slowly with mindfulness.”

SCORPIO (October 23 – November 21)
This month things are quite empty.  That means there are no planets in your sign.  Of course there are always influences effecting you but at least there are no major astrological ones stimulating you.  Be happy and do as you please.  Be generous and kind, those activities are always beneficial.

Scorpio Buddhists are passionate.  Your passion-o-meter is low this month.  Just be mindful and exude happiness.  What more could we ask of anyone?

SAGITTARIUS (November 22 – December 21)
Contemplation and sensuality are a strong feelings for you. You bounce back and forth between these two as Venus will run in opposition to Saturn in Sagittarius for the last two weeks of the month.  Saturn makes you reflect on things while Venus wants to party.  Basically rely on Bodhicitta, “It transforms all base situations into gold” as Shantideva so eloquently says in the Bodhisattva’s guide to a spiritual life.  Turn your desires to positive goals.

Sagittarius Buddhists are inspired individuals.  Meditate on Bodhicitta.  This month inspiration comes from contemplativeness mixed with desire.  Be aware of your feelings but don’t chase desires that are not meaningful.

CAPRICORN (December 22 – January 19)

You have to deal with a powerful month of dualities.  The Sun, Mars and Mercury sit in direct opposition to Pluto in Capricorn.  This means you have to weigh your actions carefully.  If you overemphasize one direction you may find yourself deeply concerned about the exact opposite issues.  It is a good month to be thoughtful.  Do lots of quiet contemplative meditations.  Remember, astrology is only an influence, not the creator of your life.

Capricorn Buddhists reflect and contemplate on decisions.  A time of deep wisdom is here, so enter into this month by developing a thoughtful attitude.

AQUARIUS (January 20 – February 18)
Nothing much will be happening for you in the first weeks of the month.  The last ten days get more exciting as the Sun, Mars, Mercury and the Moon will come in opposition to Aquarius.  That can mean distraction if you are not focused on what is good.  So in the first weeks of the month be contemplative and then utilize those reflections to motivate yourself in the last two weeks.

Aquarius Buddhists are sociable beings.  This month only do altruistic meditations, especially Bodhicitta related.  Planetary aspects can help your realizations, but you have to do the meditations to reap the support.  Don’t daydream about meditating, do it!

PISCES (February 19 – March 20)
This month has Neptune in aspect to the Sun and Mars to totally energize you.  If you have been feeling agitated or out of sorts it is because of these planets.  The positive side of it is that the Sun and Mars support you.  Therefore go after your goals.  No more daydreaming.  Seek to accomplish even the impossible, you have the support.

Pisces Buddhists are sensitive and introspective.  This month drop all inhibitions and move on your visions.  If you don’t act now when there are supportive astrological aspects, then when could you do it?   Reflect that life is impermanent and you don’t want to be known as a procrastinator.
